Tool Design’s early success with production machining, large turning capabilities and a large staff of entrepreneurial engineers led to a diversification of its primary business into the design, production, and repair of hydraulic cylinders in the 1980's.

Initial design and production began on Crane Carrier Corporation's Mobile Work-Over Trucks for the Oil and Gas Production. This expertise served to catapult the company into a major player in the western hydraulic and fluid power industry.

Our services provide unmatched expertise in the field of fluid power as a solution-oriented provider. Beyond our repair capabilities evolved developing relationships with the world's largest mining companies in Utah and Nevada and later international hydraulic excavator manufacturers, including Mannesmann Demag Construction and Mining Machinery and O&K Mining.

Our facility spans 30,000 sq-ft. on 2.3 acres located in the Decker Lake Business Park in Salt Lake City. The facility contains overhead gantry cranes, large diameter shaft turning lathes, automatic power honing, complete assembly tooling and fluid power test equipment to 5,000 psi.
